California Dreamin  (2018)

Live from the last Concert in my Antique Shop, A song that has become dear to me after my move from Los Angeles to Berlin, an especially intimate version, with some background speakeasy vibe, and an intro in my best Deutsch for the moment, enjoy, it has been fun to put these songs up for you all. please remember to donate if you appreciate the work, and of course if you are in a position to do so. I will keep fighting the beasts, and putting my best melodies and stories forward, I feel blessed to be able to do so, with your help, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, keep your heads up creatures, Love Davey

Curse of the Soil  (2018)

Getting Darker, digging deeper, trying harder, rough recording, but this is one of my favorite pieces til now, trying to get it ready for public comsumption, I hope you enjoy it, my old Jugendstil Piano, it loves the dark

Bury Me Cold  (2018)

A Mobile Phone recording, a new song, working it out, maybe I do it on the Piano in the end, here at least the lyrics are in place, I threw in a little Obama vs. the Haters line, see if you catch it...ha, one of my favs, enjoy

Recreate (Find Us Heal Us)  (2014)

I met Diego Ortiz in the Alexanderplatz Train Station, I was busy running for a train, and like in a movie, heard a violin in the distance, I stopped everything, and walked toward it, it was Diego, from Chili, playing for change, man can that boy play. He later visited me in my shop and we made a session. He also later joined me with the band at a concert in Berlin. This is a rough version, of the idea that later became "Find Us, Heal Us" on the newest JUD album

Dont You Take It Too Bad (Townes van Zandt Cover)

Going back to the candle light jam in Berlin, this time with James Schmidt on the cajon, Jan Hampicke guitar and harmony vocals, Oli Earl Grey on guitar. The start is a bit rough but we get in the flow!

Eighteen Wheels (2018)

I've been kicking this idea around for like 10 years I think, this recording is just from my phone, but it is raw and has something, even a pause for page turning and another pause just for lyric adjustments on the fly...Jimmy loves this one, we did it once in Siegen on a JUD tour if I remember....

My First Cage (2014)

From the amazing Candlelight Jam at the Clemmons House Antik Shop, with Earl Grey on Slide, Jan Hampicke on 2nd Guitar, this one is for Anthony, who had the super cool idea for this calendar

Old Man And The Punk (2005)

The Great Malfunction (2007)

Recorded in the jam room as we wrote songs for the JUD "Sufferboy" album, this one did not make it on the record, in hindsight, it is a solid song, maybe one day you hear it produced! until then, jam room recording!! Jan Hampicke,James Schmidt on bass and drums

The Sky Above Us (Garden Song) (2013)

Me and James Schmidt did some sessions at Noisy Rooms Rehearsal in Berlin, and this is one of the tunes that never really got finished, but I have started to play it in the set anyway, everytime different! Freedom... this version is cool, Jimmy playing amazing tasty stuff, duo, just guitar and bass, I know, audio not hitting it but vibe is there! enjoy!

Window - JUD (1995)

From the first JUD demo recorded in our garage in Venice, California in 1995 on my old 8 Track analog tape machine. Hoss on Drums, Steve on Bass, very raw, JUD in birth form, we did this on tour sometimes in the 90's but grew out of it, I still love this one, the guitar drum build, Steve's steady hand, enjoy creatures!!

True Love Fade (2009)

A lost jewel, very Americana! I travelled to Hamburg to visit Anne de Wolff and Ulrich Rode, had a great weekend of music and friendship, this track Ulrich plays a mean slide, sounds like pedal steel, he is an amazing all around musician and producer. Never released, just sitting on my harddrive, enjoy!

Who Knows The Devil? (2015)

A fun little number from a very enjoyable session at the Clemmons House with Jan Hampicke, James Schmidt and Oliver Grauer (Earl Grey). It sounds like an old standard, but its really a DJC story song, it goes to 11, yes, the lyric is in there, and fitting for today, song number 11 Creatures

Compositions of Suberbia (1997)

Another favorite recordings of mine, analog 8 Track bedroom in Venice, California, I was writing songs for Chasing California/JUD) and parallel a healthy batch of dark acoustic based songs. This is a classic capture of life in Los Angeles in the 90s!

Cynical World (Demo Version Redondo Beach, CA)

the song that made it later on to "Yes Sir" here in its raw original demo form, I recorded 16 songs back to back for Joe Floyd my great friend and producer, in 2005 for the album and we later chose the keepers. Here the differences....

Never Told Lies (Bill Langley Cover) 2010

A great song by a great and very underated songwriter in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, whom I met through Mark Mullholand and Two Dollar Bash. We played some shows in USA and stayed in his lovely house. This is done out of huge respect for Bill as a songwriter and singer!!

Your A Big Girl Now (Bob Dylan Cover) Live in Bassy

I think this version comes from Live film, from the camera, it was around 2014 at the Bassy Club in Berlin. James Schmidt Drums, Jan Hampicke Bass, Earl Grey Guitar

since we played a Dylan Birthday Party we have been doing this quite requarly! great song
